Our Magic Story

Mama Ruby Knew Best…

Hi! I'm Renée Jones, founder of A Creative Touch, Incorporated. How did I start this company? Well, in my case it wasn't just 'Mama' but rather my grandmother, 'Mama Ruby' who knew best. Thanks to Mama Ruby's persistent encouragement, I became an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary (DAVA). Not only did Mama Ruby's advice give me the privilege of serving our nation's veterans, it also paved the way for a series of major life changes.

A Creative Solution to a Major Dilemma…

In just one year, here's what happened: I was elected as National Commander of the organization, the highest volunteer office in this quarter-million member organization; my employer refused to honor my vacation request for Veterans Day weekend (can you imagine??); I quit my job to fulfill my commitment to the DAVA and returned home with no job, no savings, and a full year of travel commitments. That's when I decided to start my own promotional products company (an aspect of my work I had always loved), so I would be able to work while simultaneously honoring my commitment to the DAVA. Yes, the launch of A Creative Touch, Incorporated was a creative solution to my own personal life dilemma….no wonder our company is so good at finding creative solutions for our clients too!

She Really Knew Best…

As if Mama Ruby's push hadn't done enough, that year I also met my husband, Robert, a US Navy Vietnam veteran and DAV member, during a DAV Auxiliary-related trip to Las Cruces, New Mexico. After a two-year long-distance courtship, we wed on New Year's Eve 2004, and immediately relocated to Wilmington, NC, where A Creative Touch, Incorporated is headquartered.

Here We Are Today…

A decade later, A Creative Touch, Incorporated has grown into a nationally recognized promotional products group which partners with clients all over the country. We source and design customized promotional items with a selection of more than 850,000 different products. And, I'm proud to say that it’s been more than a decade, and we’ve never missed a deadline! When we're not working on creative solutions for our clients, both Robert and I continue to travel as active volunteer members of the Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary.
